I wouldn't be surprised if HP sold over 1,000,000 HP branded iPods last quarter, we'll know in just 4 days the actual number.

This could be the beginning of other HP branded Apple products soon.

Hewlett Packard signs on to sell self-branded versions of Apple's iPod photo digital music player.

Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on Friday morning, HP CEO Carly Fiorina said the company will begin marketing a version of Apple Computer's iPod Photo later in the year.

Fiorina also offered a sneak peek at the products HP will try to insert into people's living rooms, including a media hub that comes with high-definition television capabilities, a digital video recorder, and in-house screen technology that improves the resolution.

HP will also vouch support for a technology called Visual Radio for cell phones, which provides users with artist information, ring tones and the ability to buy tickets, according to CNet News.com.

Other products under development by HP include a new version of a current digital camera that will sport a casing designed by No Doubt vocalist Gwen Stefani, a 'Custom TV' programming guide, and a television shaped like a table, where images on the screen can be moved with a finger.

Fiorina, however, provided no further details on her company's version of the Apple iPod Photo.

HP is currently under contract with Apple to sell fourth-generation iPods under the Hewlett-Packard name, a deal that was announced by both companies during last year's Consumer Electronics Show.

They could, but it uses Adobe Elements or Album on the PC, and there isn't the same motivation to put iPhoto on Widows as there was for iTunes (the iTunes Music Store). Once they got iTMS on Windows, that added a new revenue stream as well as providing more reasons for PC users to buy iPods. I can't think of the same kind of reasoning for putting iPhoto on Windows.

1) iTunes for Windows was created not necessarily for the iPod but to allow Windows users access to the iTunes Music Store.

2) iPhoto is not required on the Mac to sync with the iPod photo ... iTunes will also let you sync with folders on OS X just like iTunes for Windows.

There really is no reason to create an iPhoto for Windows, unless of course Apple is looking for another revenue stream in the form of iLife for Windows. And possibly charge more for it; $99. This would also further Apple's reach into the "mind share" of those considering buying a new computer in the near future, by exposing more people to more Apple applications.
