Deals: Steeply cut MacBook Pro Retinas almost gone; $319 iPad minis, $899 13" MacBook Air, more [u]
A handful of MacBook Pro configurations that received steep price cuts several weeks ago are nearly sold out and won't be replenished after having been discontinued by Apple. Meanwhile, the Mac maker is blowing out hundreds of refurbished 13" MacBook Airs for $899, in addition to several other models and iPads, all of which have now been added to our price guides.Update: Apple affiliated eBay power seller Jonny's General Electric is blowing through brand new iPad minis for $319 Wednesday, March 20th only. That's an unusual 3% markdown below MSRP.
MacBook Pro Closeouts
MacMall, which has teamed with AppleInsider to offer the lowest prices anywhere on the vast majority of Apple's notebook offerings, recently reduced the price of several MacBook Pro models, five of which are expected to sell out in the next week or so: 3 Retina models and 2 17" legacy models.
In the case of the 3 Retina MacBook Pros, each are being phased out and replaced by models with just a 100MHz speed bump but priced several hundred dollars more. As such, these closeout models represent exceptional value while the last. Along with the two additional legacy 17" MacBook Pro non-Retinas, all five configurations are now officially EOL (End-of-Life) by Apple and won't be restocked.

Refurbished 13" MacBook Airs for under $900
Meanwhile, Apple continues to blow through thousands of refurbished iPads, MacBook Airs, and MacBook Pros through its secret eBay Refurbished outlet. AppleInsider recently noted that Apple has been using the storefront to sell through its refurbished inventory at prices that are sometimes $100 cheaper than those listed on the company's official refurbished outlet.

Final days this month for Mac+AppleCare discounts from B&H Photo
Finally, Manhattan Apple power seller B&H Photo let us know that they'll be closing down both their physical retail store and online ordering system from Monday, March 25th in the observance of Passover and will reopen a week later on Wednesday, April 3rd at 9:00AM EDT. The reason those Airs are so cheap is that they only have 4GB of RAM. People buy them then realize it was a mistake not to have 8GB, especially since the video memory is shared. 4Gb is pretty much a bad joke.

It's very clear MacMall is a sponsor of AppleInsider. So is B&H. They help Apple and we help them. The article clearly states we've teamed up with them. We've also mentioned their sponsorship countless times in the past. So while you're free to express your opinions here, indicating that we're doing something deceitful by reporting great deals once in a while from some of Apple's largest resellers, who are well disclosed affiliates, is not so cool.

Just because it's not right for you doesn't mean it's a bad joke. 4 GB is enough for many users. I know a lot of people who never do anything but email, web browsing, and perhaps an occasional Word document - and 4 GB would be fine for them.
