Lowest Prices Ever: 15" MacBook Pro Retina for $1,749 ($250 off); 13" MacBook Air for $974

Big box and online retailers are getting a jump start on their holiday promotional efforts this year, including a pair of AppleInsider sponsors who have knocked $250 off Apple's just announced 15-inch MacBook Pro Retinas and $180 off a high-end BTO config, respectively. Separately, Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air has been discounted to $974.

Late 2013 15" MacBook Pro with Retina for $1,750

B&H has slashed the the price of the new 2.0GHz 15" (8GB, 256GB) MacBook Pro with Retina display from $1,999.00 to $1,749.95 — the lowest price we've ever seen for this model, with a savings of $249.05. B&H also only charges sales tax on orders shipped to its home state of NY and offers AppleInsider readers exclusive pricing on new Mac+AppleCare bundles. When attaching a 3-year AppleCare protection plan (discounted to $244, normally $349) to this particular model, the final price comes out to $1,993.95 (how to add AppleCare) — a combined savings of $354.05.

The same treatment was given to the the new 2.3GHz 15" (16GB, 512GB) MacBook Pro with Retina display which was reduced from $2,599 to $2,349.99 ($2,593.99 with AppleCare) — a savings of $249 and $354, respectively.

B&H also just discounted Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air (1.30GHz/4GB/128GB) to $974.99 ($1,154.98 with AppleCare). This too is the lowest price ever for this new notebook, a savings of $124.01 ($193.02). The retailer similarly cut the 13-inch MacBook Air (1.30GHz/4GB/256GB) by the same amount, bringing the cost down to $1,174.99 ($1,354.98).
