Chicago Music Industry Summit Today at Apple session signups now open

Apple will be holding the second-annual Chicago Music Industry Summit at its Michigan Avenue store, which will hold sessions throughout September with leaders in the local music scene, as well as tuition guiding musicians in a variety of areas to help further their craft.

Billed as a way for users to "connect with others and tap into creative resources to help further your career in music and the arts," the Chicago Music Industry Summit provides access to sessions with experts in a variety of fields, covering a wide spectrum of knowledge in music production and performance.

Organized under the Today at Apple section of the Apple Michigan Avenue store, customers can sign up to take part in the free-to-attend sessions, with registration in advance advisable for each. So far, only four sessions are offered under the summit title, with other events likely to become available throughout the month.

In the session titled "Beat Making with Thelonious Martin," the producer along with rapper Swade and writer Ernest Wilkins will perform a set and then break down a track in Logic Pro X before a question and answer session. The "Identify Your Sound" Music Lab with DJ Ca$h Era has the DJ explaining how to establish a style, then will take participants through creating their own DJ set on GarageBand for iOS.

The Design Lab "Event Production with Phero has the art director sharing production tips before attendees use an iPad and Apple Pencil to create an original community event. Lastly, a performance on September 12 has artists J-Hop, Bari, and pinkcaravan! each going through their set before talking to writer and filmmaker Cami Thomas about the connected music scenes of St. Louis and Chicago.

The Chicago Music Industry Summit starts on August 31 and runs throughout September.
