New iPhone 13 mini announced with A15, better cameras & smaller notch

Apple on Tuesday announced the iPhone 13 mini, an update that brings a faster processor and a 20% smaller notch to the company's 5.4-inch device.

Like the 6.1-inch iPhone 13, the 5.4-inch device introduces incremental upgrades to the company's midrange lineup. More notably, the iPhone 13 mini might be one of the last refreshes of Apple's smallest handset.

Apple says the iPhone 13 mini has all the same features as the iPhone 13, just shoved in a smaller package. The updated display allows for up to 1200 nits brightness when viewing HDR content.

The A15 processor brings up to 50% more performance than the A14 used in iPhone 12. The faster Neural Engine also means faster computation and improved features like Live Text in iOS 15.

Night mode is now available on all cameras, where previously, it didn't work on the ultra-wide lens. In addition, the new 12MP camera has larger pixels, which means more light gathering.

Apple also introduced the new Cinematic mode for video. Now, the focus moves from subject to subject based on what's happening in the scene.

Battery life in the iPhone 13 mini is now 1.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12 mini. This was accomplished thanks to the efficiency of the A15 processor.

The notch that houses the sensors used for Face ID is now 20% smaller, which means more display area.

The iPhone 13 mini is available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage variants. Its can be configured in five colors: pink, blue, midnight, starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED. It starts at $699 for the 128GB model.
