Apple Computer seeded developers on Monday with yet another external build of Mac OS X 10.3.4 Panther, which carries build number 7H63.

Continuing to wrap up the development of Mac OS X 10.3.4, Apple seeded developers yesterday with build 7H60 of the system update.

During a keynote speech at this week's Software & Information Industry Association's Enterprise Software Summit in San Francisco, Apple's Chief Technology Officer, Avie Tevanian, promised a decline in the company's rigorous Mac OS X update schedule following the release of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, due by year's end.

Apple Computer Inc. has created a new division within the maker of the Macintosh computer to sell its popular iPod, the market leading digital music player, the company said on Wednesday.

According to DigiTimes, "in June, Quanta will begin delivering new notebook models to Hewlett-Packard (HP), Apple Computer, NEC and Sony, further helping the company expand its notebook shipments for the second half."

Apple today announced financial results for its fiscal 2004 second quarter ended March 27, 2004. For the quarter, the Company posted a net profit of $46 million, or $.12 per diluted share. These results compare to a net profit of $14 million, or $.04 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Revenue for the quarter was $1.909 billion, up 29 percent from the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 27.8 percent, down from 28.3 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 43 percent of the quarter’s revenue.

"Apple Computer on Tuesday shut down its manufacturing operations in Elk Grove, idling a reported 235 workers as it attempts to cut costs in the cut-throat computer-making business," according to a breaking story first reported this afternoon by The Sacramento Bee.
