While much of the week was dominated by nearly identical "iPhone 7" leaks, we did learn a little bit more about the "Apple Car," and Apple itself released a bevy of software updates, while bringing Apple Pay to more markets.

An Oregon man who earlier this year pleaded guilty to hacking into Apple and Google email accounts, including a number owned by unnamed celebrities, was sentenced to six months in prison this week.

US appeals court vacates Apple win in Unwired Planet patent suit

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Friday handed down an opinion vacating in part a 2015 summary judgment that found Apple not in infringement of certain cellular and voice recognition patents, claims of which originate from a string of "kitchen sink" patent lawsuits leveled by non-practicing entity Unwired Planet.

Apple retakes top spot in FutureBrand 'perception strength' rankings

Apple has reclaimed the top spot in the 2016 edition of the FutureBrand Index, which each year ranks the world's 100 biggest corporations according to their "perception strength," based on a survey of 3,000 consumers and professionals across 17 countries.

Atlas' first Wristband was an ambitious but ultimately failed attempt to build a fitness tracker geared toward strength training, instead of just cardio-oriented activities like running and cycling.
