Two major U.S. drugstores have turned off their NFC payment terminals to stop Apple Pay transactions in an effort to make their own "CurrentC" app-based payment system--which is designed to collect and track information on their customers--the only option, even though it's not actually finished yet.

A number of iPhone 6 Plus users have reported an issue in which the phone inexplicably crashes or enters a reboot loop, prompting many to take it in to Apple for service, where it is usually swapped out for a new unit. Some owners are on their fourth replacement 6 Plus.

Apple Pay is simple to set up and start using, but those who dig a little deeper can customize and take control of the mobile payments system, such as choosing the default card that appears when a transaction is initiated, or remotely removing cards from a missing iPhone via iCloud.

A small number of Bank of America customers were hit with a double-charge when using Apple Pay this week, but the problem resulting from a glitch between the bank and a payment network is expected to be quickly resolved.
