Mann will join existing cast members Austin Butler, Anthony Boyle and Callum Turner in the limited series, which is being produced by Playtone and Amblin Television. Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman will serve as executive producers.
According to Variety, Mann will play Major "Rosie" Rosenthal in the 10-episode limited series. He is being represented by Gersh Agency and Authentic Talent & Literary Management.
Based on Donald L. Miller's nonfiction title "Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany", the limited-run series will follow the true story of the young men who flew the bombers that helped bring Nazi Germany to its knees.
The series will be the latest in a line of World War II miniseries that includes "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific." Both Emmy-winning series were made for HBO. While "Masters of the Air" was initially in development for HBO, it later moved to Apple.
"Masters of the Air" marks the second show Apple has produced with Spielberg, the first being the episodic anthology "Amazing Stories" that launched in March 2020.
