Adobe Premiere Rush now available on Apple's M1 Silicon Macs

Adobe has added more features to their popular video editing software, including macOS-specific updates and more support for Apple's line of M1 Macs.

On April 13, Adobe pushed out an update to its Creative Cloud Video suite. Among the updates, which include several geared toward performance and stability improvements, were updates specifically for macOS and iOS devices.

For the first time, Premiere Rush — Adobe's lightweight version of Premiere designed for mobile devices — is now available on M1 Macs. Users can quickly and easily create and edit videos intended for social media.

New to Premiere Rush, users on iOS and Android can now use Reset to revert changes to Color, Audio, and Transforms. For desktop users, Reset will revert changes to color adjustments.

Premier Rush gains a new Timeline Context menu for iOS, too. Tapping a video clip on the timeline will bring up a context-sensitive menu, allowing you to split, duplicate, or delete a clip. Tapping a video clip with audio will allow you to separate the audio from the video clip.

Premier Pro gets a few updates this month, including optimizing H.264/HEVC formats for Windows users. Export times have been improved by up to 1.8x by utilizing Intel's Quick Sync hardware acceleration.

Lumetri presets display a frame from a user's current sequence, and thumbnails for Lumetri presets in the Effects panel. These thumbnails will dynamically update, allowing users to see a preview of the preset.

On April 5, Adobe opened a public beta of Premiere Pro for Apple Silicon, intending to release a native version of its popular video editor to M1 Macs soon.
