Facebook & Ray-Ban 'smart glasses' leak hours before announcement

Facebook Ray-Ban 'Stories' glasses leak ahead of announcement

Images of Facebook's Ray-Ban smart glasses have appeared, and they look fairly similar to other offerings, like Snap Spectacles.

It appears that the Facebook smart glasses will house two cameras, have a button on the right-side arm, and come in various styles and colors. Branding on one leaked box says "Round Ray-Ban Stories," hinting at the potential functionality.

A series of tweets from Evleaks show at least three styles of glasses and five colorways. The boxes label the glasses styles as Round, Wayfarer, and Meteor.

Each style offers a subtle design difference to give customers some element of choice. Round are self-explanatory and designed incredibly similar to the Snap Spectacles.

Meteor takes on the harshest design with sharp angles and deep cuts into the nose bridge. Wayfarer is the most basic design with soft corners and no details around the nose bridge.

The available tinting colors appear to be bronze, blue, green, and standard black or un-tinted.

The name of the lineup is "Ray-Ban Stories," hinting that users will be able to record photos and video from the glasses to post directly to their stories. This is a similar function to the Snap Spectacles, which record directly to Snapchat.

The Facebook and Ray-Ban announcement takes place Thursday, September 9. The company teased the date with no time, so expect a press release at any time.
