iPad mini, iPhone 13 Pro delivery dates slip to late October in US

The iPad mini, arguably the most improved device introduced at Apple's "California Streaming" event last week, is seeing the greatest impact to initial stock allotments in the U.S.

According to the online Apple Store, Wi-Fi versions of Space Gray, purple and 256GB Starlight iPad mini models purchased today are due to arrive between Oct. 21 and Nov. 4. Deliveries of all cellular variants with 256GB of onboard storage are also set to arrive in the same period. All pink Wi-Fi only models, the 64GB Starlight option and all 64GB cellular selections will arrive between Oct. 14 and Oct. 21.

Late last week, about five days after a start to preorders, iPad mini shipment estimates slipped to Oct. 19, with some models pushed back further into the month.

Similarly, demand for iPhone 13 Pro continues to chip away at launch window supplies. All storage and color combinations of both iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max show delivery dates between Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 for all U.S. carriers. Initial iPhone 13 mini supplies are holding steady with shipments set to arrive in early October, while iPhone 13 configurations are pushed to the middle of the month.

Brick-and-mortar Apple Stores are expected to have limited iPhone 13, iPad mini and ninth-generation iPad stock on hand on Sept. 24.

U.S. demand appears to echo that of other regions like China, where a crush of iPhone 13 orders caused issues with Apple's online store.

Apple's iPad mini received a complete rework for 2021 with an all-screen design, A15 Bionic processor, 5G connectivity, significant camera improvements and more. Early reviews published on Wednesday were generally positive, though some cautioned that the device is comparatively expensive and serves a niche audience.

The new iPhone 13 lineup boasts across-the-board camera upgrades, new photography and videography software, a speedy A15 Bionic chip and larger batteries. Apple's top-of-the-line iPhone 13 Pro models add ProMotion variable refresh rate displays and an extra GPU core for graphics-intensive features like macro photography and ProRes support. Reviews of the handset line lauded its cameras and battery life improvements.
