Beats partners with Fragment Design on limited edition Beats Flex

Beats on Tuesday unveiled its latest limited edition headset in a black-on-black Beats Flex model created in partnership with Fragment Design.

Teased by Apple's Beats arm in a post to Twitter, the all black Flex marks the brand's second collaboration with Fragment for 2021. The first, a similarly spartan black PowerBeats Pro design, debuted in January.

"The design inspiration is a continuation of our last collaboration, as I still believe nothing is as sophisticated and refined as the black-on-black colorway," Fragment founder Hiroshi Fujiwara said of the new Flex, according to Complex. "My personal headphone preference is Beats Flex, as I like the lightweight neckband for listening to music. I hope people can wear and use this on a daily basis."

Like the PowerBeats Pro effort, Fragment's take on the Flex features a black-on-black colorway with branding flourishes including a control module emblazoned with the Fragment logo and "FRGMT" lettering.

Beats Flex is a follow up to the Beats X wireless earbuds and features a W1 chip, 12-hour battery, USB-C connectivity and improved acoustics. W1 integration enables quick syncing with iOS devices and support for Audio Sharing. At the bottom of Beats' lineup, the $69.99 Flex is touted as the brand's "all-day" wireless earphones.

Sales of the limited edition Beats Flex will go live on Apple's online store and SSENSE on Thursday, Nov. 18.
