Everything and everybody from the Apple TV+ shows featured in the Apple Event

A slew of new Apple Original shows, films, and sports broadcasts have been teased at the March 8 "Peek Performance" event. Here are all the details.

At the Apple Event on March 8, 2022, Apple CEO Tim Cook took the stage and discussed upcoming shows and previewed a trailer that showcased the lineup of famous actors that are slated to appear in shows available on Apple TV+. We tracked down all the mentioned shows and actors, so you can know what to expect.

Swan Song

"Swan Song" is described as a "genre-bending drama" set in the near future and explores how far someone will go to make life happier for the people they love and how much they are willing to sacrifice in the process.

The series features Mahershala Ali and Glenn Close. Two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali was featured in 2008's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and won Oscars for Best Supporting Actor in 2016's "Moonlight" and 2018's "Green Book."

Glenn Close is the winner of three Golden Globe Awards, three Primetime Emmys, and three Tony Awards. An eight-time nominee for the Academy Award, her notable roles include 1984's "The Natural" and 1995's "Sunset Boulevard, for which she received a Primetime Emmy. She also starred in "101 Dalmatians" in 1996 and its sequel "102 Dalmatians" in 2000.

The series was released on Apple TV+ on December 17, 2021.

Coda

Critically acclaimed and noted for being the first-ever feature film to be released with burnt-in subtitles in theaters, "CODA" was nominated for three awards. Marlee Matlin was also up for Outstanding Supporting Performance.

"CODA" follows a young girl named Ruby, a child of deaf adults, also known as a "CODA." Ruby is the only hearing member of her family who often acts as an interpreter for her parents.

Ruby eventually discovers a talent for singing and wants to apply to Berkley School of Music, but is torn between leaving to pursue her dreams or staying with her family, whose fishing business has come to rely on her.

The film received a Grand Jury Prize and is an Audience Award winner at Sundance Film Festival.

Cast member Marlee Matlin is an Academy Award winner who has also won a Golden Globe and four Emmys. She appeared in "Seinfeld" (1993) and was nominated four times for her performance in the TV series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2004-05). In addition, her performance for the show "Coda" won her a SAG Award for Best Ensemble.

Troy Kotsur is a Gotham Award winner for his performance in the film "Coda." A deaf actor, he has also appeared in 2006's "CSI: NY" TV series.

The series is the recipient of the Hollywood Critics Association's Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor awards, and multiple SAG awards. "Coda" debuted on Apple TV+ on August 13, 2021.

The Tragedy of Macbeth

Directed by Joel Coen, "The Tragedy of Macbeth" stars Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand, along with Bertie Carvel, Alex Hassell, Corey Hawkins, Kathryn Hunter, Harry Melling, and Brendan Gleeson. It's based on the Shakespearean play of the same name.

Denzel Washington is a two-time Oscar winner, three-time Golden Globe winner, and is the recipient of a Screen Actors Guild Award. A career started in theatre, he performed in the off-Broadway Shakespearean show "Coriolanus" in 1979. He won an Oscar for his portrayal of Private Silas Trip in 1989's "Glory." He also performed in Spike Lee's 1992 biographic "Malcolm X."

Frances McDormand has won four Academy Awards, two Primetime Emmys, and a Tony Award. One of the few to achieve the "Triple Crown of Acting," she has roles in 1996's "Fargo," 2008's "Burn After Reading," and "Hail, Caesar!" in 2016.

The series has received nominations for the NAACP Image Awards. It arrived on Apple TV+ on January 14, 2022.

Spirited

It's a reimagining of Charles Dickens' famous tales of holiday cheer featuring a star-studded cast including Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds.

Will Ferrell has a comedic career that spanned three decades. A former cast member of "Saturday Night Live," he has since appeared in "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" in 2004 and "Semi-Pro" in 2008.

Ryan Reynolds appeared in many blockbusters, such as in 2011's "Green Lantern," 2013's "Pokemon: Detective Pikachu," 2016's "Deadpool," and 2020's "The Croods: A New Age." Octavia Spencer is an Oscar and Golden Globe winner that has appeared in "Snowpiercer" in 2013, "The Shape of Water" in 2017, and most recently in Pixar's "Onward" in 2020.

"Spirited" will arrive Holiday 2022 on Apple TV+.

Luck

"Luck" focuses on Sam Greenfield when she loses her magic coin, and has to traverse the Land of Luck to recover it, encountering magical creatures along the way.

Celebrity voice actors participated in this film. Simon Pegg is an actor that starred in the acclaimed comedies "Shaun of the Dead" (2004) and "Hot Fuzz" (2007).

Whoopi Goldberg is an EGOT winner who began her career on Broadway's "Spook Show" in 1983 and has since transitioned to TV in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "The View."

"Luck" debuts on Apple TV+ August 5, 2022. The Apple Event featured the first look into the animation and noted that former Pixar animation workers are involved in production.

Argylle

Based on an upcoming spy novel of the same name by author Ellie Conway, "Argylle" follows the world's greatest spy "as he is caught up in a globe-trotting adventure," according to Deadline.

Henry Cavill is best known for his roles in superhero movies such as 2013's "Man of Steel," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" in 2016, and most recently in "Zack Synder's Justice League" in 2021. He's also noted for his acclaimed performance as Geralt of Rivera in the Netflix series "The Witcher" (2019-present).

John Cena is a wrestler and philanthropist most known for his role as the character of the same name in WWE. He's also starred in many movies, such as 2005's "You Can't See Me" and in 2021's "F9."

Dua Lipa is a singer and songwriter with multiple chart-topping singles. She is also noted for her work in philanthropy, and "Argylle" is set to be her first film appearance.

Samuel L Jackson is famous for many of his roles in blockbuster hits such as "Goodfellas" in 1990, "Jurassic Park" in 1993, "Pulp Fiction" in 1994, 2012's "Django Unchained," and "The Hateful Eight" in 2015. Samuel L. Jackson has also appeared in the Apple TV+ film "The Banker," and the upcoming drama "The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey."

"Argylle" is currently pegged for a 2023 release on Apple TV+. In the video presentation, viewers of the Apple Event got a sneak peek into the upcoming film.

Cha Cha Real Smooth

The film is about Andrew, a 22-year old college graduate, who is still at his family's home in New Jersey. A chance encounter with a local mom and her daughter gave her a look into a future that's enticing even if it might not be what he wanted.

Leading cast member Dakota Johnson is most famous for her work in the "Fifty Shades" series (2015-2018), but has also appeared in the action-comedy "21 Jump Street" in 2012.

"Cha Cha Real Smooth" will release June 17, 2022, on Apple TV+.

Finch

The second of Apple's films to star Tom Hanks, "Finch" is a post-apocalyptic adventure film that Hanks has described as "optimistic, hopeful, and ... just delightful."

Hanks plays the titular character "Finch" in the film, a robotics engineer who is one of the last few survivors on Earth, following a solar event. Living in a bunker, he builds a robot, played by Caleb Landry Jones, to look after his dog, Goodyear, with the trio then making a road trip to the American West.

Tom Hanks starred in numerous classic films such as 1994's "Forrest Gump," 1998's "Saving Private Ryan," "The Green Mile" in 1999, "Catch Me If You Can" in 2002, "Cloud Atlas" in 2012, and as the titular pilot "Sully" in 2016.

Tom Hanks also starred in "Greyhound," an Apple TV+ film about a Navy vessel set during World War II. It received good critical acclaim and was the largest debut of Apple's streaming service at the time

"Finch" debuted on Apple TV+ on November 5, 2021.

Raymond & Ray

Two brothers bond over their dead father's unconventional dying wish in this film, as they build their relationship over the digging of their father's grave.

Actors Ethan Hawke and Ewan McGregor portray the two brothers. Ethan Hawke is a twice-nominee for the Oscars and broke through in 1989's "Dead Poets Society." Evan McGregor is most noted for his roles in "Trainspotting" and its sequel (1996, 2017) and his portrayal as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy (1999-2005). He also portrayed Black Mask in DC's 2020 film "Birds of Prey."

"Raymond & Ray" is set to launch Fall 2022 on Apple TV+.

The Greatest Beer Run Ever

"The Greatest Beer Run Ever" is based on a true story about one man's death-defying mission to deliver beer to his buddies - who are all fighting in the Vietnam War at the moment.

A pair of notable names on the big screen are part of the cast. Zac Efron broke out thanks to the "High School Musical" trilogy (2006-2008) and has since gone on to perform in "17 Again" (2009), "The Paperboy" (2012), "Baywatch" (2017), and in "The Greatest Showman" (2017).

Russell Crowe achieved international acclaim for his role in 2000's "Gladiator," for which he won an Oscar among many other awards. He has since appeared in "Les Miserables" in 2012, "Man of Steel" in 2013, and "The Nice Guys" in 2016. He has also won two Golden Globe Awards.

The show is set to release Fall 2022 on Apple TV+.

The Crowded Room

"The Crowded Room" is focused on the deep and personal struggle of one man against his mental illness and disassociative personality disorder.

Main Tom Holland received international attention for his portrayal of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series of films from 2016 to 2021. He has also appeared in "Cherry", another movie released on Apple TV+.

There has been no official release date announced for the series.

Friday Night Baseball

"Friday Night Baseball" showcases two Major League Baseball games exclusive to Apple TV+. In addition, fans can enjoy extra content by MLB including "MLB Big Inning", for "live look-ins" around the big leagues.

These shows are available on the TV app on Apple devices and on the Apple TV app on various smart TVs, set-top boxes, and game consoles.
