New Canon EOS R8 is a 24MP full-frame mirrorless camera

EOS R8

Canon is launching a new full-frame mirrorless camera called the EOS R8 that features a 24.2-megapixel sensor.

The EOS R8 is ideal for portraits, events, and landscape photography with its 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor. It's also suitable for capturing moving subjects with a reduced rolling shutter that enables 40fps continuous shooting and low noise, high ISO of up to 102,400.

According to Canon, the new camera can achieve the exact resolution as the EOS R6 Mark II. And the improved dynamic range captures photos with bold colors and a shallow field depth that creates a soft background to help the subject stand out.

The EOS R8 is Canon's lightest full-frame EOS R System camera weighing about one pound. It has a high-resolution 2.36m dot electronic viewfinder that works up to 120fps, and the camera also supports UHS-II SD cards.

The EOS R8's sophisticated sensor can record 180fps Full HD footage for slow-motion videos and full width 4K 60p footage that is oversampled from 6K sensor data. The camera also supports Canon Log 3 at 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:2 H.265 internal recording, offering greater dynamic range and more post-production flexibility.
