                <title><![CDATA[New Mac infostealer confirms stolen passwords before stealing data]]></title>

PamStealer disguises itself as the Maccy clipboard manager and uses AppleScript alongside a Rust payload to infect Macs.<br><br>Jamf found that PamStealer verifies login passwords through Apple's Pluggable Authentication Modules before stealing additional data. Password verification sets PamStealer apart from most macOS infostealers, which typically capture whatever password a victim enters without confirming that it's valid.<br><br>The campaign begins with a fake website that closely imitates the legitimate Maccy clipboard manager. The CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security conducted the research.<br><br>Researchers Arash Ale Ebrahim and Nils Ole Tippenhauer analyzed the network protocols behind AirDrop and Quick Share. Their research identified three vulnerabilities affecting Apple's AirDrop implementation.<br><br>The team also found three additional vulnerabilities affecting Quick Share on Android and Windows. Not every product is for everyone, and not every price point is for every budget, but for those for whom this is aimed, this ought to be a 5-star review.<br><br>And it would be if this were solely about the hardware, but while that is exceptional, Elgato's software is still a little problematic. Now ahead of a further closed-door hearing with senior CCI officials, Apple has submitted its own accusations.<br><br>According to <em>Reuters</em>, Apple's submission includes the claim that the CCI's investigators "blindly replicated" a consumer spending graphic from an EU rule.
