Apple has given the go-ahead for a ten-episode season of currently-untitled science fiction series as part of its ongoing original video content effort, a big-budget TV show created and co-written by Simon Kinberg and David Weil.

Apple stole the limelight at CES without even appearing as an exhibitor, thanks to a series of announcements from Samsung and a series of other television makers incorporating Apple's AirPlay 2 wireless streaming in their products, including LG, Sony and Vizio. This news was cynically portrayed as a "strategy reversal" and a new effort at "copying Microsoft" by the Wall Street Journal -- and out here in the real world, it is nothing of the sort.

TiVo to release Apple TV app later this year for streaming live and DVR content

In a surprise move that answers a longstanding request from many end users, TiVo at CES 2019 announced plans to release a tvOS app that will allow Apple TV users to watch live and recorded content without investing in multiple TiVo set-top boxes.
