IFTTT's

new iOS notifications channel is a long-awaited feature, offering users the ability to have recipe updates pushed nearly instantly to their iOS device. Users can create a recipe that monitors the weather and sends a push notification when rain is expected in their area, for instance.

The app has also been updated with a new iPad-specific layout and is available as a universal binary. In addition, iOS photo triggers can now be configured to run based on the user's location, and the company has added a new set of curated recipe collections organized around specific activities.

IFTTT version 2.0.0 is available now as a free, 19.5-megabyte download from the App Store.

FTL: Faster Than Light

Faster Than Light, or FTL, is a spaceship simulation game that allows players to take command of a virtual spaceship while trying to save the galaxy. The game does not offer flight simulation, however -- instead, users are asked to make tactical decisions like managing power distribution, ship upgrades, and weapon loadouts.

The iPad edition ships with the game's Advanced Edition expansion pack, which the developers say adds new ships, enemies, events, and weapons to the base package. Gamers should note that FTL will not run on Apple's first-generation iPad, as the developers have chosen to target only the iPad 2 and newer.

Faster Than Light version 1.5.4 is available now as a $9.99, 173-megabyte download from the App Store.
