Atheletes who rely on the popular RunKeeper app to track their workouts can now use a new "Stopwatch Mode" for easily entering indoor exercises. In addition, third-party keyboard SwiftKey was updated on Monday with support for four new languages, as well as a handful of improvements and bug fixes.
RunKeeper 5.0
RunKeeperreceived a big update Monday with support for indoor tracking, allowing users to access the new "Stopwatch Mode" when running on a treadmill. The new indoor activity mode allows users to:
- View their time and heart rate data during the activity
- Receive audio cutes for time and heart rate
- Pace is calculated when a user enters their total distance after their workout
- Miles are counted toward a user's custom goals
The Stopwatch Mode can be accessed after updating and then opening the "Start" screen and selecting "Type." On the "Activity Type" screen, choose "Stopwatch Mode," and select the appropriate activity, then hit "Go."
RunKeeper also promised on Monday that it will add support for Apple's new HealthKit series of tools in a future update. It's said that official support will arrive in the "not-so-distant future," though no release window was given.
SwiftKey Keyboard 1.0.3
One of the first and most popular iOS 8 keyboards, SwiftKey, has been updated with support for the top four user requested languages: Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Dutch. Support for additional new languages is said to be forthcoming.
In addition, version 1.0.3 includes easier to enter URLs, and a fine-tuned behavior for the backspace key. The update is also said to include general bug fixes and improved performance and stability.
