In an update to its official Apple Store app on Thursday, Apple rolled out support for Peek and Pop 3D Touch gestures, a feature that lets users seamlessly preview products, images and other in-app assets.
The updated Apple Store app is the latest first-party iOS title to take advantage of 3D Touch features exclusive to iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Prior to today's update, the app's 3D Touch gesture support was limited to home screen Quick Actions.
In Apple Store, Peek and Pop previews open nearly all hyperlinks, including image previews. Unlike other Apple apps like Mail, the updated Store app does not support additional swipe actions sometimes available after triggering Peek mode.
Introduced with iPhone 6s last year, 3D Touch has been touted by Apple as being the next paradigm shift in user input, a follow-up to multitouch on the original iPhone. The force-sensing technology has yet to catch on, however, as functionality is currently limited to home screen Quick Actions and the aforementioned Peek and Pop assets.
The app also launched in Korea, Russia and Thailand as part of today's update.
Apple Store version 3.7 comes in at 32.4MB and is available for free from the iOS App Store.
