One day after Apple released its new single sign-on feature for tvOS and iOS device owners, longtime partner Disney and its ABC subsidiary added app compatibility with the new authentication service.
While the new additions have yet to be reflected on Apple's Support Pages document compatible single sign-on apps, tvOS and iOS versions of Watch Disney and Watch ABC now support the feature, reports The Verge.
After announcing single sign-on earlier this year, and opening the service to beta testers in November, Apple launched the streaming app authentication solution on Tuesday.
Currently available in the U.S., single sign-on allows pay TV subscribers to log in to multiple pay TV streaming apps on Apple TV and iOS using one set of credentials. On the backend, single sign-on enables pay TV providers to automatically verify, and grant access to, streaming content that is part of a user's subscription.
Launch partners include cable providers CenturyLink Prism, DirecTV, Dish, GVTC, GTA, Hawaiian Telcom, Hotwire, MetroCast and Sling, as well as a variety of third-party apps.
