Apple's latest promotional video for Apple Music -- now online -- takes a different tack from some other recent spots by featuring country singer Brantley Gilbert.
The black-and-white commercial shows Gilbert riding around on a motorcycle with friends in rural Tennessee, listening to songs on Apple Music using an iPhone. On top of Gilbert's "The Ones That Like Me," the ad's soundtrack includes music like "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and "Backseat Freestyle" by Kendrick Lamar.
Gilbert's narration embraces common country themes like "freedom," "simplicity," and "the open road." Likewise, the ad's imagery concentrates on things such as farms, small towns, and the American flag.
The commercial first premiered this Sunday ahead of the NASCAR Brickyard 400.
When promoting Apple Music, Apple typically focuses on genres like pop, rap, and hip-hop. The company may be trying to reach listeners in more genres however -- an exclusive documentary premiering Wednesday, for instance, will concentrate on EDM artist Kygo.
