Philips has bolstered its line of Hue smart home lights with a new collection of outdoor light sources that can be mounted outside the home, as well as a new Hue Outdoor Sensor that can trigger the lights when people or objects pass nearby.
Philips Hue Outdoor Sensor
The Hue Outdoor Sensor can be mounted anywhere a user wants, due to it being able to be powered by just a battery. The weather-resistant sensor has a detection range of up to 39 feet, and has a built-in light sensor allowing it to work only when it is dark.
Able to be programmed by the Hue app and can trigger any other Hue lighting, the sensor is shipping in February for $49.95.
The new outdoor lighting options are designed for different purposes, such as the Philips Hue Welcome Flood Light shining white light over a wide area, while the Hue Discover Flood Light provides both white and colored ambient lighting in a similar fashion. The Hue Econic Lights consist of accent lighting that offer a variety of different appearance options, including hanging down, uplighting, flush to a wall, and pedestal configurations.
Philips Hue Discover Outdoor Floodlight
As well as being configured to work with the Hue app and triggerable by the sensor, the outdoor lighting can form part of a HomeKit automation setup, just like others in the Hue ranges, so they can be controlled by Siri requests and run through various scenes to automatically turn on and display colors.
Philips Hue Econic Outdoor Wall Light
Also available from February, the Hue Welcome Home and Discover cost $109.99 and $139.99 respectively, while the Econic range will cost $129.99.
