Casetify laptop sleeve review: Fun designs that absorb shock

By Andrew Orr

Casetify is known for its colorful iPhone cases but recently released a pretty nice MacBook Pro sleeve line to offer stylish protection.

The Boho Hippie sleeve

The company announced the new sleeve in January along with a couple of MacBook Pro cases. Casetify makes some excellent cases for the iPhone, and now it's expanding into the Mac market.

Like its other products, the laptop sleeves are available in various designs, and people can create a custom design too. They're made of a 5mm shock-absorbing neoprene material with recycled polyester lining.

To further safeguard laptops, the sleeve incorporates a water-resistant zipper. Casetify also prints the designs using eco-friendly ink.

Soft, recyled lining

The cases only come in two sizes to fit 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, although 14-inch models will fit inside the more oversized sleeve.

Using the sleeve

The design we chose is called "boho hippie" and Casetify has dozens of other fun options. Although there are a lot of designs in different styles, the sleeves only come in black and lavender, so we hope the company will add more colors in the future.

Otherwise, it's a nice sleeve. The material could be bulky for some bags, but the improved protection from shocks and bumps makes it worthwhile.

The waterproof zipper is a nice touch, and although we didn't submerge the case, it handles running water just fine. Unfortunately, Casetify does not mention whether it has an Ingress Protection rating.

Some designs are psychedelic

The sleeve smells a little...funky, but that will probably go away with time and seems like a standard neoprene feature. It's a good sleeve for people wanting a fun design and laptop protection.

Where to Buy

Casetify's laptop sleeves are available in a couple of different prices. Some are $48, and others are $52, but those are good prices for what they offer.
