New release candidates for Adobe's Lightroom and Camera Raw bring bug fixes, added camera support

Adobe on Monday announced the availability of the Lightroom 4.4 and Camera Raw 7.4 Release Candidates, with each update providing expanded support for new cameras as well as fixes for reported bugs.

The company notes that the release candidates made available today, while not polished products ready for automatic update status, are well tested but "would benefit from additional community testing" before distribution.

Adobe's Lightroom 4.4 RC comes over two months after version 4.3 was issued as a final release in December.

Lightroom 4.4 RC includes a correction to the demosaic algorithms for Fujifilm cameras with the X-Trans sensor. This specifically impacts the following cameras:

Camera RAW 7.4

Adobe's Camera Raw 7.4 RC comes with DNG Converter 7.4 and brings support for a number of new model cameras including the Leica M, Nikon 1 series and Canon's EOS 1D C. New lens profiles and various bug fixes are also part of the release.

Feedback for the release candidates can be submitted through Adobe's Feedback Portal. Lightroom 4 is available for $149 for new users, or $79 for those upgrading from a previous version.
