Starting Monday, the SoHo Apple Store will play host to fashion industry insiders as an unofficial extension of New York's Fashion Week, with special in-store discussions on creativity, style and digital media running through Thursday.
As with previous events at Apple's lively SoHo retail location, this week's fashion-centric talks focus on topics at the intersection of traditional and digital media. On Tuesday, for example, artist Katie Rodgers will make live sketches of a model wearing designs by Valentia Kova, which will then be turned into a story and posted on journaling app Steller.
Earlier today, cofounders of website Opening Ceremony, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, discussed culture, style and inspiration with actress Natasha Lyonne, while photographer Ken Schles shared photos of the East Village made famous in the 1980s.
Upcoming guests include Wool and the Gang co-founders Aurelie Popper and Jade Harwood, who are scheduled to talk on Thursday about their game-changing fashion brand focusing on knitted clothes. Unlike mass-produced labels, Wool and the Gang employs a global network of knitters to hand make original designs using sustainable resources. Customers can also buy kits and knit their own products on patterns designed by fellow "Gangstas."
The SoHo Apple Store is a popular venue for star-studded talks and consistently hosts talks from actors, directors, music artists and other creative minds. As part of its Apps for (RED) push in December, Apple invited Patrick Stump from the band Fall Out Boy to talk about the GarageBand app and the creative process.
Those interested in attending the two remaining workshops can reserve a spot through the SoHo Apple Store's website.
