Developer Tapbots on Monday pushed out an update to its popular iOS Twitter client Tweetbot for iOS, bringing playback support for videos and GIFs hosted by the ubiquitous microblogging network.
With Tweetbot 3 for Twitter version 3.5.2, users can now view videos uploaded to Twitter's recently released video hosting service that rolled out in January.
According to the release notes, version 3.5.2 also provides better support for viewing animated GIF files uploaded to Twitter's servers.
While current users are still unable to upload videos and GIFs directly to Twitter, Tweetbot features hooks into comparable services like Instagram, CloudApp and Droplr. Those looking use Twitter's hosting service are currently limited to the platform's official app, which lets users capture, edit and upload videos up to 30 seconds long.
Finally, Tweetbot's latest update packs in an assortment of unnamed bug fixes and performance improvements.
Tweetbot for iPhone 3.5.2 is a 7.2MB download that can be purchased for $4.99 from the iOS App Store. The update is free for existing users.
