One day after DJI launched a new 4K-capable Phantom 3 model, the drone company's lower tier offerings are being marked down by select resellers, with significant savings to be had on Phantom 3 Standard and Phantom 3 Advanced models.
DJI's latest Phantom 3 4K brings ultra high-resolution video to consumers for $799, though the company's older products may represent a better value, as retailer B&H Photo has marked down both Phantom 3 Standard and Advanced prices by $200.
At a new price of $499, the Phantom 3 Standard is DJI's entry-level model, but comes packed with a 2.7K camera and three-axis stabilization gimbal. The quadcopter also features GPS assisted hover modes, automatic flight logs, built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and compatibility with Apple iOS devices.
When AppleInsider spent some hands-on time with DJI's Phantom 3 Standard in August, we found the drone to be exceptionally well-suited for pairing with iPhone, which is used to stream real-time 720p video at 30 frames per second. At the time, the Phantom 3 Standard was priced at $799.
The Phantom 3 Advanced sits below the Phantom 3 Professional series and adds DJI's Lightbridge video downlink technology for live app-based monitoring from the drone's 2.5K camera (720p-quality at a line-of-sight range of 1.2 miles), as well as an ultrasonic positioning system for $799. The Advanced series can be thought of as a Phantom 3 Professional without the 4K camera, and AppleInsider found Lightbridge to be much better than Wi-Fi.
Both the DJI Phantom 3 Standard and Phantom 3 Advanced are available and in stock at B&H Photo now.
