Apple TV+ has landed "Five Days at Memorial," a new limited series from John Ridley and Carlton Cuse chronicling events in a post-Hurricane Katrina hospital in New Orleans
Based on the novel of the same name by Pulitzer Prize winner Sheri Fink, the series will chronicle the first five days in a New Orleans hospital after Hurricane Katrina hit the city.
"When the floodwaters rose, the power failed and the heat climbed, exhausted caregivers were forced to make life-and-death decisions that haunted them for years to come," Apple said of the show.
Ridley and Cuse will serve as showrunners, writers and executive producers on the project, while Ridley will also serve as director. Fink, the author of "Five Days at Memorial," will produce the project. Ridley, an Academy Award winner, is known for past work on "12 Years a Slave," "American Crime," and "Guerilla." Cuse, who has won an Emmy Award, is known for "Lost," "Jack Ryan," and "Locke & Key."
The show will join a growing slate of Apple TV+ originals based on novels and books, including "Mosquito Coast," starring Justin Theroux, and Stephen King-headed "Lisey's Story."
