Janneke Parrish, who helped form the #AppleToo movement to air concerns about pay equity and workplace harassment, was fired in October. Reportedly, she was accused of deleting files, prompting an investigation.
Parrish told The Verge that Apple fired her on "false and pretextual reasons." She cites the fact that she "spoke up regarding her personal experiences regarding workplace concerns and helped give voice to her co-workers' concerns in a workplace where such issues have been systematically siloed, suppressed, and unaddressed."
According to The Verge, this is the seventh unfair labor practice charge that has been levied against Apple since August 2021. The National Labor Relations Board is reportedly investigating the claims against Apple.
Cher Scarlett, another member and organizer of the #AppleToo movement, filed a complaint in September that alleges Apple barred employees from engaging in protected activity when they attempted to discuss their pay.
The Verge also reports that an AppleCare team member filed a charge on Sept. 28 claiming that they were unlawfully fired. The firing was previously unreported, and the staffer's identity is not currently known.
