Having previously committed to supporting Matter, Aqara has now outlined its plans for a new line of Thread-enabled products.
"As the start of this new line, the Company is expected to release the new version of its iconic Door and Window Sensor and Motion Sensor with Thread technology built-in in the second half of 2022," said the company in a press release.
"The new Thread products from Aqara are designed to provide consumers improved connected home experiences," it continued, "with higher compatibility, reliability, power efficiency, and security."
Aqara has not as yet detailed any of its Thread products, however it claims they will retain the "most popular features" from its Zigbee lineup, "such as the long battery life and low-latency connection."
The company says producing these Thread-based devices will give users "one more option to enter the Matter ecosystem." Though it also notes that "certain Aqara products may not be compatible with Matter due to the lack of Matter support for specific device types."
Separately, Aqara has previously reported that its existing M1S and M2 hubs will get free firmware updates to make them compatible with Matter.
