The ten-part series, based on a novel by Ann Napolitano of the same name, premieres February 3 on Apple TV+, the company tweeted Wednesday.
Announced in February, the series tells the story of Edward Adler, played by Colin O'Brien, who survives a plane crash that kills every other passenger on the flight, including his family. As he tries to make sense of his life after the tragedy, unexpected friendships, romances, and communities are formed.
"Dear Edward" is written, showrun, and executive produced by Jason Katims ("Friday Night Lights") and marks the first series order from his overall deal with Apple TV+. Alongside O'Brien, it stars Emmy Award nominee Connie Britton ("Friday Night Lights") and Taylor Schilling ("Orange is the New Black").
Fisher Stevens ("Palmer") will direct the first episode and serve as executive producer on the pilot. Jeni Mulein serves as executive producer alongside Katims.
Author Napolitano also serves as executive producer alongside director Stevens, and David Boyd will serve as producing director.
