Apple has released macOS Big Sur 11.7.4 with a fix for grayed-out or missing icons in Safari Favorites -- no other updates or security patches were mentioned.
New macOS Big Sur update fixes Safari icons
macOS Big Sur was originally released in 2020, but Apple still provides updates from time to time. The new version macOS Big Sur 11.7.4 doesn't have any security CVE numbers attached to it, so it is likely just a bug fix update.
Users complained that icons were graying out or missing in the Safari Favorites page after updating to macOS Big Sur 11.7.3, so Wednesday's update provides a fix for that. Otherwise, it is likely to contain the usual stability and performance improvements found in smaller updates.
Users that are unable to update past macOS Big Sur due to having older Macs will see the option to update manually in System Preferences. Automatic updates are enabled by default, though some users may have them disabled to avoid buggy updates, so those machines will require a manual update.
Despite this being a minor fix on the surface, the update could contain other important stability updates. So, we urge anyone still running macOS Big Sur to update as soon as is convenient.
