Apple seeds second developer beta for iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6

By Andrew Orr

After the completion of the first beta release, Apple has now issued the second developer betas for iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6.

Developers can access new betas

Developers who are part of the beta program can acquire the latest builds either by accessing the Apple Developer Center or updating their devices that already have the beta versions installed. Following the developer releases, public beta versions are typically made available shortly after, allowing the general public to test them through the Apple Beta Software Program.

Following the launch of the first betas for iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6 on May 19, Apple has introduced the second developer betas for iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6. Although the specific details regarding the features and changes in these betas have not been revealed yet, more information will emerge as developers explore and interact with the operating systems.

The most recent betas for iOS and iPadOS 16.6, identified by the build number 20G5037d, come after Apple's distribution of the first versions, which carried the number 20G5026e.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users don't install beta operating systems or other beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
