Apple releases first developer beta for iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6

Following the conclusion of the previous beta cycle, Apple has now made available the initial developer betas for iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6.

Developers who are part of the beta program can obtain the most recent builds by either accessing the Apple Developer Center or updating their devices that are already running the beta versions. Following the developer releases, public beta versions are usually released shortly thereafter, enabling the general public to test them through the Apple Beta Software Program.

Following the public release of iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 on May 18, Apple has introduced the first developer betas for iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6. While the exact details regarding the features and changes in these betas are still undisclosed, more information will become available as developers delve into and interact with the operating systems.

The latest betas for iOS and iPadOS 16.6, carrying the build number 20G5026e, come after Apple's seed of the release candidate on May 15, numbered at 20F66.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users don't install beta operating systems or other beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.

Apple seems to have restricted this to developers who have paid accounts. My iPhone isn't able to select the developer build anymore. My Mac mini can however.
