Apple TV+ will release the third season of its "Physical" dark comedy on August 2, 2023, with aerobics star Shiela Rubin now facing fierce competition to stay in business.
Rose Bryne as Sheila Rubin (Source: Apple) "Physical" premiered in June 2021, and in August 2022, Apple TV+ announced that a third and final season has been commissioned. After revealing that the show's final ten episodes will stream from Wednesday, August 2, 2023, Apple has now released a trailer.
Sheila Rubin (Rose Bryne) found aerobics in the first season, then created her own fitness firm in the second -- and now is being beaten at her own game. The third season adds Zooey Deschanel as Kelly Kilmartin, Rubin's nemesis.
"Set in the idyllic but fragile beach paradise of sunny 1980s San Diego, Physical is a half-hour dark comedy following Sheila Rubin (Byrne), a quietly tortured, seemingly dutiful housewife supporting her smart but controversial husband's bid for state assembly," says Apple.
"[For the final season, Sheila Rubin] is torn between loyalty to her husband (Rory Scovel) and the values he represents, and a dangerous attraction to someone else," continues Apple. "And since she's no longer the only game in town, she finds herself having to outrun some fierce new competitors on the road to building a full-fledged fitness empire."
Set to the tune of Gloria Gaynor's "I Am What I Am," the trailer shows Rubin's world being destroyed by the rivalry -- and her planning desperate measures to win. "Recovery is a long road," she says.
