Apple's latest update to the Sports app adds scores as a Live Activity, letting sports fans see results at a glance on their iPhone's display.
Sports for iOS
Apple Sports lets users see live scores and updates from games played by their favorite teams and sports, all from their iPhone. With the latest update, users can see sports updates without needing to open the app.
The update to version 2.0 on Monday makes a few changes to the app, with the biggest being support for Live Activities. When enabled, users can see live scores and play updates on the Lock Screen of their iPhone, or on the Apple Watch.
The update requires iOS 18 and watchOS 11 for the updates to appear as Live Activities.
The app also introduces a new drop-down menu that lets users quickly switch between leagues. It also leads to a new search page that displays all of the available leagues a user can check.
Apple also adds in some optimizations aimed at the WNBA and MLB playoffs. At the same time, it's also covering the MLS and Liga MX champions competing for the Campeones Cup.
Sports is a free app and available from the App Store. It requires iOS 17.2 or later.
