Apple has updated its iTunes Festival app for iOS, giving iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch owners the ability to stream video from its star-studded music festival in London.
The video streaming feature is the sole new update brought in version 4.1 of the iTunes Festival London 2013 app. The app provides artist information, news, and schedules for the acts performing at this year's festival in London. The 38.9MB free download requires an iPhone, iPod, or iPad running iOS 6.0 or later.
Users of the app will have the ability to stream some performance as they are happening, while other performances will be reserved for later download. Users on iTunes and Apple TV owners will also have the opportunity to watch gigs in high definition. As in years past, Apple TV owners should find an iTunes Festival channel has appeared on their devices, giving them access to the music content.
The iTunes Festival kicks off this Sunday in London, and each night in September will feature a performance from different artists. In total, more than 60 artists will perform in the festival, including Justin Timberlake, Ellie Goulding, Dizzee Rascal, and Robin Thicke.
Apple announced the festival's lineup in May of this year, touting it as "the best ever with an incredible lineup of global superstars and emerging artists." Around the same time, Apple reactivated the @itunesfestival Twitter handle in order to better provide information on performances and scheduling.
