CES returning to Las Vegas for 2022 alongside digital platform

After going with an all-digital CES 2021, CTA has announced on Wednesday that the CES 2022 will return to Las Vegas for the annual show but with a smaller footprint than years past.

CES will return to Las Vegas for 2022

After moving online for 2021, CES 2022 will take place January 5-8, 2022 in Las Vegas. However, organisers CTA say they will also still host the event online for those who are uncomfortable or unable to attend in person. Reportedly more than 1,000 companies have already committed to exhibiting in person in Las Vegas, with the company expecting more before January.

For the 2020 show, CTA had over 175,000 attendees descend on Vegas for the show but anticipate around 75,000 for the 2022 exhibition.

"We're thrilled to return to Las Vegas - home to CES for more than 40 years - and look forward to seeing many new and returning faces," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. "Hundreds of executives have told us how much they need CES to meet new and existing customers, find partners, reach media and discover innovation."

The organizers plan to merge the digital and in-person events for 2022 with the new CES anchor desk traveling to Las Vegas to connect online viewers with the exhibitors.

While Apple doesn't exhibit at CES itself, many accessory makers for Apple gear as well as many competitors will all be on display.

CTA is still reviewing guidelines for coronavirus safety measures and says it will have additional updates to share as the show approaches to keep exhibitors and attendees safe.
