The two-minute trailer shows off the documentary's artwork, as well as some of the journalists, educators, and scholars who were interviewed for it. The trailer comes ahead of the documentary's premiere on Friday, Feb. 18.
Described as a "21st-century examination of a complicated man in the context of his times," the limited docu-series features never-before-heard stories about Lincoln and "close-up perspectives of him as a man."
Based on the book "Abe: Abraham Lincoln in His Times" by acclaimed historian David S. Reynolds, "Lincoln's Dilemma" is narrated by Jeffrey Wright and features the voices of Bill Camp as Abraham Lincoln and Leslie Odom Jr. as Frederick Douglass.
In addition to examining Lincoln in a new light, the series also gives voice to the stories of enslaved people, "shaping a more complete view of an America divided over issues including economy, race and humanity, and underscoring Lincoln's battle to save the country, no matter the cost."
Eden Productions and Kunhardt Films produced the documentary for Apple TV+. Peter Kunhardt, Teddy Kunhardt, George Kunhardt, Josh Tyrangiel, Richard Plepler, Jacqueline Olive, Barak Goodman, Jelani Cobb serve as executive producers, while Olive and Goodman also direct.
All four parts of "Lincoln's Dilemma" will be available on Friday, Feb. 18 on Apple TV+.
