tvOS 18.2 gains new Snoopy screensavers with latest developer beta

Snoopy-themed screensavers are now available with tvOS 18.2 developer beta 3.

With the latest developer beta of tvOS 18.2, Apple has finally added Snoopy-themed screensavers for Apple TV. Here's what you need to know.

On Monday, the company released the third developer betas of visionOS 2.2 and tvOS 18.2. While the Apple Vision Pro software doesn't appear to have any noteworthy additions, the tvOS developer beta includes all-new screensavers.

The recently added Snoopy screensavers were originally announced back in June, at WWDC 2024. They can be used alongside the existing screensaver options, such as Memories & Slideshows, and Portraits, which became available as part of the tvOS 18 update.

Apple has partnered with Peanuts in the past, releasing multiple series specials on AppleTV+ over the years. Watch faces featuring Snoopy can already be used on the Apple Watch. Episodes of the show, along with various specials, are available on AppleTV+ as well.

Personally I would like an expansion of flyover screen savers to a few additional continents.

Isn’t it time to grow up?  Do we really need childish names for things (Google, as an example) and kids cartoon characters as screen savers?

Funny names are no big deal, but Charles Schulz has been dead for 25 years and he’d been drawing the same characters over and over for probably 50 years before that.

How about fine art screensavers and desktops? By era or movement or artist.

More nature screensavers, too.

It would be cool if these drone pilots could fly them along sections of interesting trails, like the Appalachian or Pacific Crest or Hurricane Ridge in the White Mountains or something.

I am grown up and I like the Peanuts Snoopy stuff, so worry about yourowndamself. Why would a supposed grownup worry about others' choice of screensavers. You want to "influence" people, worry about those who didn't vote for democracy.

That said, the flyover (LOL) screensavers are really great and I'd like to see more of those. I was watching one recently and it looked more like a render than the others. Maybe I need to rethink the selected resolution. Or flights through cities, forests and canyons. They'd be harder to do. The high-end third-party aquarium screensavers are really nice.

Maybe AI could do an article on well done third-party screensavers. They're not needed but they're nice to run while kick back listening to music. An iOS type Memories saver for macOS would be appreciated but simpler. As option to run non-stop with all the segues/fads but without text.
