Cable provider Frontier has launched a limited-time offer, providing customers of its Fiber 2 Gig service a free Apple TV 4K and three months of Apple TV+.
Introduced on Monday, the offer will give all new and existing Frontier customers three months of access to Apple TV+. In effect, the promo acts as a three-month trial to the streaming service, with it costing subscribers $4.99 per month after the free period ends.
Under the terms of the deal, it is for all new and returning Apple TV+ subscribers, and one subscription is permitted per Family Sharing group. The deal runs until July 2, and the offer needs to be claimed by July 30.
For new customers taking up Frontier's Fiber 2 Gig product, which offers 2Gbps download and upload speeds on a fiber-optic network, they can claim an Apple TV 4K. The set-top box could be used with the service to watch the Apple TV+ streams, as well as to enjoy other content downloadable to the device.
While the Apple TV 4K is included in the package, there is a prorated early termination fee of up to $200 for the device itself, which applies if the customer disconnects or downgrades to a lower speed. Customers also have up to 45 days of notification that they qualify for the offer to redeem the Apple TV 4K.
Offering a free Apple TV 4K to subscribers has periodically surfaced as an offer by Internet providers, to try and encourage adoption of higher-speed services. Previously, AT&T and Verizon offered the set-top box as an incentive to new customers.
In some cases, the Apple TV is offered as an alternative to the traditional set-top box for cable subscriptions.
