Fresh from ending the betas of the milestone release, Apple is now working on the first post-release update for macOS Ventura, with developers getting the first beta build of macOS Ventura 13.1.
macOS Ventura 13.1 beta 1 now available for developers
New betas can be acquired from the Apple Developer Center by developers signed up for Apple's test program, or via an over-the-air update for hardware already running beta software. Public betas generally appear soon after the developer versions, and are downloaded through the Apple Beta Software Program website.
The first beta of macOS Ventura 13.1 follows after Apple's issuance of two release candidates on October 18 and October 20. Including the release candidates, there were a total of 13 beta builds for version 13.
The first macOS Ventura 13.1 beta build is number 22C5033e, replacing the second release candidate of version 13, build 22A380.
Apple released macOS Ventura 13.0 to the public on October 24.
It is unclear what Apple is introducing in the new beta at this time, but strong candidates are features that didn't make the initial release, as well as performance improvements for those that did.
AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly insist users don't install betas onto "mission-critical" or primary devices, due to the minor chance of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to ensure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.
