In addition to its existing stores in Delhi and Mumbai, it appears that there are plans in India for four new Apple retail stores, all expected to open in 2025.
Apple's first Apple retail store in Mumbai, opened in April 2023.
Apple expects to open new retail stores in the cities of Bengaluru and Pune, while also building second outlets in Delhi and Mumbai. Bengaluru is also home to Apple's corporate headquarters for India, but has not had a retail outlet there thus far.
The existing stores in Delhi and Mumbai first opened in 2023, delayed by two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. The two original stores now contribute nearly 20 percent of all of Apple's business in India, driving the push for more stores in India.
"Our stores are incredible places to experience the magic of Apple, and it's been wonderful to deepen our connection with our customers in India," said Apple Retail Senior Vice-President Dierdre O'Brien. "We can't wait for them to have even more opportunities to discover and shop for our amazing products and services, and connect with our extraordinary, knowledgeable team members."
Apple's retail stores in India sell iPhones made within the country. Apple began manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017, and has expanded production there significantly.
Production facilities owned by Tata Electronics make the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models, while a Pegatron factory handles production for the two iPhone 16 Pro models. India is now responsible for seven percent of all iPhone manufacturing worldwide.
O'Brien said Apple was "inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers" in India. Beyond late 2025, target dates for the opening of the new stores has not yet been announced.
