Apple has signed a multi-year deal with "Defending Jacob" creator, executive producer, and showrunner, Mark Bomback, who will create new exclusive content for Apple TV+.
"Defending Jacob" is suspected of being Apple TV+'s most popular show.
Bomback will join a host of other creators who have been signed to Apple TV, including "Physical" showrunner Any Weisman and "Little America" executive producer Lee Eisenberg.
"Defending Jacob," the Apple TV+ limited series starring Chris Evans, follows a lawyer whose teenaged son is accused of murdering a classmate. The series wrapped up its run with its finale episode on May 29. The series, which combines family drama, psychological thriller, and courtroom procedural, was based on a novel of the same name by William Landay.
AppleInsider reviewed "Defending Jacob," praising the series as a "slow-burn drama."
There are no official numbers for the viewership of Apple TV+ shows. Apple has never released such numbers, and Nielsen, usually the arbiter of network and cable TV ratings, does not measure Apple's shows. However, Deadline remarks that it's likely that "Defending Jacob" was Apple's most popular program.
Bomback has writing credits on "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," "War for the Planet of the Apes," "Total Recall," and "Live Free or Die Hard." He's listed as a series producer for "Defending Jacob," TNT crime drama "Legends," and the documentary "Finding Tatanka."
