As new Apple Developer Academy programs begin recruiting in Detroit and Korea, Apple has showcased the impact of this coding course for students worldwide.

Following the opening of applications for the Detroit Apple Developer Academy, Apple has detailed how the program benefits students around the globe.
"The Apple Developer Academy is not just about learning to code," said Antonio Chiappetta, part of the very first cohort in 2016. "It's about breaking barriers and empowering students, and has infused me with the enthusiasm and curiosity that drive me today."
Chiappetta went on from his Apple course to become an iOS developer, working in Paris on the award-winning brain training app, Elevate.
During her Apple Developer Academy training in Jakarta, Indonesia, Aisyah Widya Nur Shadrina and her team developed the sign language translation app, Hearo. That team went on to Apple's Entrepreneur Camp in 2020, and this year will be attending WWDC 2021 virtually.
Then Arthur Motelevicz found a business partner when they were both on Brazil's version of the Apple Developer Academy in 2013. That partnership led Motelevicz to quit his full time job and instead concentrate on his passion for mixing music and coding.
He and his partner have subsequently recruited 11 academy graduates for their 25-strong team. Together they produce Super Pads, a DJ app.
"I love being able to work with amazing people, learn every day, and experiment with combining coding and music," he said. "The Apple Developer Academy gave me the strength to pursue and implement my ideas into something that I will spend my life working on."
Motelevicz was on the very first Apple Developer Academy, and since then Apple has added over a dozen more across the world. Two more are coming, starting with the first-ever US one, Detroit, which has already opened for applications. That will shortly be joined by Korea.
The academies are now part of Apple's Racial Equity and Justice Initiative.
