The AFI Award-winning and Critics Choice Award-nominated series will return to Apple TV+ with "new and original musical numbers" from series co-creator Cinco Paul.

Apple has announced a second season for "Schmigadoon!" The series featured an ensemble cast that included Keegan Michael-Key, Cecily Strongm, Ariana DeBose, Kristin Chenoweth, and Martin Short.

Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page will join the cast in the second season.

The six-episode first season was styled as a "parody of iconic musicals" set against the backdrop of a couple trying to save their failing relationship in the town of Schmigadoon. According to Apple, season two will feature the couple, played by Strong and Michael-Key, traveling to the town of Schmicago.

The new season will be styled after musicals in the 1960s and 70s, in comparison to the 1940s and 50s sound in season one. Robert Luketic will return as director. Series co-creator Cinco Paul, who wrote all the songs in the first season, will return with new numbers for the second season.

Apple first announced the series in early 2021, with a trailer for the first season first released in June 2021.

The news comes on the heels of the release of the first trailer for the comedy series "Loot" on June 3, and the announcement of a deal struck between Apple and Brad Pitt with Joseph Kosinski on a future Formula One film Tuesday.

Thursday saw the announcement of "Sugar," which was described as a "contemporary take on the detective genre," for the platform.
