On Tuesday, users of iCloud Mail discovered they were having problems using the service. A number of people could not access iCloud Mail at all, with some having difficulty using it at all after gaining access.
According to Apple's System Status site, there is one current listed "outage" and one current "issue." The outage is for iCloud Mail with "some users" affected and "unable to send, receive or access mail."
The listed "issue" is for iCloud Web Apps, again with "some users" affected by being unable to sign in. With both being under the iCloud banner, they could be linked in some way.
Both problems were acknowledged by Apple on the System Status page at 2:31P.M. Eastern Time. Apple hasn't offered timescales for a fix, nor further details of what's gone wrong, but it is more likely to be fixed within a few hours of being spotted by the company.
Outages of Apple's online services are an occasional hazard, and sometimes they can happen at inconvenient times. Sometimes, multiple issues crop up in quick succession.
Of all other items on System Status, Apple resolved outages for AppleCare on Device, Apple Music, and the iTunes Store on January 29th. It also completed planned maintenance on Apple Cash and Apple Pay & Wallet on January 28.
AppleInsider will continue to monitor the situation.
