On Monday, Apple announced that Apple News+ subscribers get a new, original spelling game called "Quartiles," and support for offline mode.

Quartiles

plays similarly to Boggle, though it requires players to form words by connecting tiles that contain two to four letters. Users score points based on word length.

New puzzles are released daily, and players can share Quartiles puzzles with other News+ subscribers.

Also available to subscribers is Offline Mode, which now provides recent, personalized content for subscribers when they're not connected to Wi-Fi or cellular. Offline mode automatically downloads Top Stories, Apple News Today audio briefings, full magazine issues, and more.

"We're always working to improve the experience for our News+ subscribers," said Lauren Kern, editor-in-chief of Apple News.

"Our new daily word game Quartiles is a fun addition to our popular crossword offerings. And Offline Mode makes it easy to access the hundreds of magazines, newspapers, narrated articles, and more included in a News+ subscription -- no matter where you are."

Both offline mode and Quartiles are available on iPad and iPhone and require iOS 17.5 or later, as well as an active subscription to Apple News+.

Apple News is available for $12.99 per month or as part of the Apple One Premier plan, which costs $37.95 monthly. If purchased as part of the Premier plan, Apple News+ can be shared with up to five people.

In October 2023, Apple added daily crossword puzzles to Apple News+. Here's how you can access the daily crossword puzzles if you haven't checked them out yet.
