Mac OS X Real Player Nears Completion

Recently, an anonymous source confirmed the existence of a Mac OS X native version of Real Media's Real Player media software. According to the source, the project is codenamed "Blackbeard" and sports a sports a "crazy looking pirate" images as its mascot.

There is apparently much demand for a Mac OS X version of the player and lots of support from within the company. "Here at Real, there's huge demand for a Mac player, we've got a lot of Macs, there's a vocal group of users that's always asking about the Mac player at company meetings," claims a company insider. "I've used the player. It's coming right along."

Real Media representatives would not confirm or deny the Blackbeard project. The software is due out in the coming months.
